The Production Engineering and Metallurgy Department hosts the University of Technology Student Debating Festival

 

   

Under the backing of the rector of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr.Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Al-Ghabban, Production Engineering and Metallurgy Department, hosted the University of Technology Festival for Student Debates in its second session in the hall of the late Mr. Jassim Al-Hayani.

The inauguration was on Sunday 28/11/2021 in the presence of the representative of the rector of the University, Prof. Dr.Hussein Hamid Karim, assistant president of the university for administrative affairs, and a number of heads of departments and faculty member . It began with the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, then the speech of the head of the Production Engineering and Metallurgy Department, Prof. Dr.Mona Khudair Abbas, welcoming the attendees and marking the start of the competitions in which 16 departments representing all departments of the University of Technology are divided into four groups. The first group included the departments of Production, Metallurgy, Mechanical Electrical Engineering, and Oil Technology. The second group includes biomedical engineering, control and systems engineering, architecture and applied sciences. The third group included the departments of civil engineering, laser engineering, optoelectronics, communications engineering and computer science, and the fourth group included the departments of materials, electromechanical, chemical and computer engineering.

The festival competitions, whose questions are divided into information in various fields of science, engineering, history, geography, puzzles, and others, began with competitions on the first day, in which the first group qualified for the oil technology department. On the second day, the second group qualified for the applied sciences department. Laser and optoelectronics On the fourth day, he qualified for the fourth group, the Chemical Engineering Department.

The final competitions were on Sunday 5/12/2021 and began with a speech by the representative of the rector of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr.Haider Abed Dahd, assistant president of the university for scientific affairs and graduate studies. Then competitions began between the four qualified departments, which resulted in the Chemical Engineering Department winning the first place, the Petroleum Technology Department in second place, and the Applied Sciences Department in third place. The prizes were distributed to the winners and memorial photos were taken.

During the five-day festival, the students took part by asking them questions and presenting prizes to the winners
